Collection: March hare

This original pastel painting portrays a Brown Hare (Lepus europaeus) seated upright, its long black-tipped ears pricked and its bright, watchful eye fixed on the viewer. Painted against a warm, neutral ground, the hare is rendered with close attention to the texture of its fur and the delicate detail of its whiskers and paws. The Brown Hare is a much-loved but declining species in Britain, associated with open farmland and the folklore of spring — none more so than the "Mad March Hare", whose famously energetic courtship displays have captured the imagination for centuries.

At the heart of nature

I am entirely self-taught. Whenever possible I draw from my own photographs. My aim is to create expressive art works that convey the beauty and emotion of nature in all its diversity.
