Collection: On Reflection: Red Squirrel Wildlife Art – Original, Prints & Canvas

This quietly contemplative painting depicts a Red Squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) perched on a mossy bank, its russet coat and bushy tail perfectly mirrored in the still water below. Once common throughout Britain, the Red Squirrel has suffered a dramatic decline following the introduction of the Grey Squirrel in the late 19th century, and is now largely confined to Scotland, Northumberland and a few island strongholds.

Thanks to Mick Ryan @mprwild for allowing me to use his photograph for artistic reference.

At the heart of nature

I am entirely self-taught. Whenever possible I draw from my own photographs. My aim is to create expressive art works that convey the beauty and emotion of nature in all its diversity.
