Waiting at Gatehouse Station - snapshots from the painting process

1. Starting by blocking in the under layers for the sheep and trees. Leaving the foreground so it doesn't get smudged.

2. Next, it is sorting out those dark and slightly out of focus trees, lots of dark pastel going down.

3. By this stage the trees were being very challenging, so I blocked in more layers for the sheep and placed the first layer for the foreground.

4. Back to the trees again, but still a little too light.

5. I'm happy with the trees now, so can start concentrating on the details of the sheep.
