Kettle on! an original pastel painting

Kettle on! is a common saying in our household, either when someone judges it is time for a cup of tea or when my husband is returning from a long car journey and is almost home. A quick phone call or message will say "Kettle on!"  As soon as I took the photo of the old fashioned kettle at Broughton House in Kirkcudbright, this was on my mind. I paired it with the starling because of the similarities in the colouring. Many thanks to Caroline Legg for permission to use her lovely starling photo as artistic reference.

Frame: 50 mm Flat Obeche with lip / 16 mm gold leaf slip. Colour is Farrow and Ball 'Railings', which is a very dark grey, almost black.
