Collection: High on a hill

This original pastel painting depicts a feral goat standing on a windswept hillside, its long, shaggy coat ruffled by the breeze and its curved horns silhouetted against a pale grey sky. Feral goats have roamed the uplands of Britain and Ireland for thousands of years, descended from early domestic stock, and are now a familiar sight on remote hillsides from Scotland to Wales and the west of Ireland. Hardy and sure-footed, they thrive in terrain that few other animals can manage. The soft, muted tones of the pastel capture both the rugged landscape and the quiet self-possession of this ancient, free-roaming breed.

At the heart of nature

I am entirely self-taught. Whenever possible I draw from my own photographs. My aim is to create expressive art works that convey the beauty and emotion of nature in all its diversity.
